Grandeur and Greek Pathos at the opening ceremony of SAE Oceania Pan-Hellenic Games - Adelaide 2007

The Oceania Pan-Hellenic Games was officially opened in a magnificent ceremony in the historical Adelaide Town Hall on Friday 20 April 2007.

The opening ceremony was presided over by the Hon. Premier of South Australia, Mr Mike Rann who gave a rousing opening address showing his boundless philhellenism and his steadfast support of the Pan-Hellenic cause.

The opening was hosted by the Hon. Lord Mayor of Adelaide Michael Harbison. Also present at the ceremony were: H.E. George Zois, Ambassador of the Hellenic Republic to Australia; Mr Dimitrios Hatzopoulos, Consul General of Greece in Adelaide; the Hon. Leader of the Opposition of South Australia Martin Hamilton-Smith; Mr Steve Georganas, Member for the Federal seat for Hindmarsh; Mr Peter Demourtzidis, President of the state organizing committee for the Pan-Hellenic Games; Mr. George Angelopoulos, Coordinator of SAE Oceania and many distinguished guests who filled the ballroom of the Town Hall.
